Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi also known as 'Chovoth' or Vinayaka Chaturthi is the most important and almost the national festival for Goans. This festival is celebrated by Hindus with a great enthusiasm. People bring idols of Lord Ganesh home. The festivities run into several days minimum being 1 day to maximum being 11 days, depending on the place and tradition. On the last day of the festival the idols are taken out in a colourful and musical procession and immersed traditionally in water.
